100th Post!

It's official - the blog is one year old and I've made my 100th post! Wow. I guess one of these days I should print this whole thing for posterity...

For the sake of future blogging, I wish I could carry an audio recorder around with me. As the kids get older, their "bloggable" quotes get more interesting, but much more complicated. It would definitely simplify my blog entries if I had their comments recorded.

For example, we were driving in the car and Maddie was quiet for a long time. She suddenly spoke. I don't have the quote exactly right, but she was talking about how if someone had a baby, and then she had more and more children, then someone else had some children, then they would be like family. And later on, all people would be like family. I wasn't really following her at first, trying to see where she was going. Finally, she said, "You know, Mom. It's like everyone in the world all came from the same place, so we're all family. We're all one."

And I realized that she gets it. More than most adults I know. She gets it. "Exactly, Maddie," I said. "We are." It gives me hope for the future of the world that there are children that think like Maddie.

Photo Shoot!

I had a vision of pictures of the kids in all white outfits. There's something really classic about that look. Old Navy had these really beautiful dresses for the girls, so I tried to put some thing together for the boys to go with them. We went to see the play "Madeline's Rescue", so we dressed the kids up and took photos of them before we went to the play. I think we actually took about 120 shots. There were so many good ones, it was hard to choose!

Six Weeks Old

We traveled back to Ohio to visit for Johnny's ten year class reunion. The kids and I stayed for the week. Jackson got to meet lots of family members and friends for the first time. Here's Isabella, Jackson and Grandma Hickey at Fridays for lunch. Jackson was perfect the whole trip and handled the 3 hour car rides like a champ!

Liam, Maddie and Isabella got to go out on Grandma Dot's boat. They'll be skiing soon at this rate! They love going out on the boat!

Five Weeks Old

As of today, Mr. Jackson has begun to make those sweet baby noises we love so much. He will make the little gooing noises and smile. If you imitate him and match the sound he's making, he will smile big and give a little laugh. It is so incredibly sweet. He is intoxicating.

Baseball Field Day

Maddie competes in the throwing for accuracy.
(the goal is to get it in the red ring)

Liam competes in throwing for accuracy.

Waiting in line for the "run the bases race."

The last week of baseball holds a field day where all the children who played at sites all over town compete in different events. The league provides ribbons and lunch for everyone who participates and trophies for the top 10 in each event.

Maddie was amazing at the base race. She is incredibly fast. Liam scored in the top ten in the throwing accuracy and won a trophy! It was about 92 degrees at noon when the trophies were being awarded. I had stripped Jackson down to his diaper because he and I were so hot and nursing him was like torture - we were sticking together! I wanted to skip the trophy ceremony and just get to the air conditioned car, but I had a feeling we should stay because one of the kids was going to get an award. I was really shocked, though, when they announced Liam's name! He was so proud, I thought he'd explode!
